Drones: Deep Blue sells EuroUSC Italia to Unifly. Italy continues to play a leading role in the European market.

The Italian company, founded in 2014, joins the Unifly network. This acquisition opens up new synergies and opportunities for growth and internationalization beyond Europe for Deep Blue in the advanced air mobility sector.

Rome, 15 May 2025 – Deep Blue , an Italian SME specializing in Human Factors and Safety, a European leader in research projects carried out in the aviation sector, announces the sale of its stake in EuroUSC Italia to Unifly , a global leader in digital solutions for drone air traffic management.

Founded in 2014 as a joint venture between Deep Blue and Professor Filippo Tomasello, EuroUSC Italia was created to address a then-emerging need: filling the regulatory gap in the nascent drone market by promoting a culture of safety and supporting the development of European regulation. Over the past ten years, the company has established itself as a point of reference in the sector, helping define operational standards for Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) and offering consulting and training services to operators , including AI View Group ; authorities , including ENAC ; and companies , including Leonardo .

“When we launched EuroUSC Italia, the drone market was still in its infancy, and the lack of a clear regulatory framework limited its growth. We founded a new, vertical company and guided it until it became an international benchmark,” says Alberto Pasquini , President of Deep Blue

“The sale to Unifly is a step consistent with the vision with which we created EuroUSC Italia: it brings continuity, strengthens the European network and opens new avenues for Deep Blue too,” declared Simone Pozzi , CEO of Deep Blue.

Over the years, Deep Blue has supported EuroUSC Italia not only as a majority shareholder but also as a true startup studio . As is typical of the best innovation ecosystems, Deep Blue has provided space, mentoring, training, a solid networking network, support for participating in European projects, communications, administration, and business development services. This support has allowed EuroUSC Italia to integrate existing expertise, saving valuable time and resources, and to focus on developing specialized skills, becoming over the years a point of reference in the regulatory and safety landscape in the drone sector.

The Deep Blue-EuroUSC Italia model represents a virtuous example of skill-building and technological development : insights and challenges arising from Deep Blue’s drone research have been transformed into market services by EuroUSC Italia, creating value for the entire aeronautical ecosystem. The sale does not mark the end of the partnership, but rather the beginning of a new phase.

“Thanks to Unifly’s entry, the synergies we have built in Italy will now be able to extend across Europe. We hope this operation will pave the way for greater internationalization beyond the EU borders, including for Deep Blue’s services. Deep Blue will continue to be a key partner for EuroUSC Italia and Unifly for the integration of Human Factors and user-centered design in the drone sector,” said Damiano Taurino , Head of Drones & Advanced Air Mobility at Deep Blue.

The sale of EuroUSC Italia is a sign of continuity . EuroUSC Italia’s operational headquarters will remain in Rome, and the current team will be retained and further expanded. There will be no upheaval, but rather a natural evolution of a path built with vision and consistency: the goal is to strengthen what has been achieved so far and continue, with a European perspective, to contribute to the safe and sustainable development of air mobility.
