The first CoVE for Innovative Air Mobility is born in Bari: Deep Blue joins DTA in the AIRMOB project.

Bari, November 14, 2025 – As part of Drones Beyond 2025 – Towards the Adoption of Innovative Aerial Services , the first Italian Center of Vocational Excellence (CoVE) dedicated to Innovative Air Mobility (IAM) officially launches . The launch takes place during the Airmob Italian CoVE Engagement Event , a moment of discussion and co-creation that brings together representatives from the world of education, the aerospace industry, institutions and the Italian partners of the AIRMOB project .

Deep Blue, a project partner together with DTA, EuroUSC Italia, the University of Salento and ITS Academy Sustainable Mobility Aerospace , contributes to the development of the skills and training programs that will form the basis of the Italian Innovative Aerial Mobility ecosystem.

An ecosystem of skills for the aviation sector of the future

The AIRMOB – Developing skills and capabilities for Innovative AIR Mobility project , launched in March 2025 and funded by the European Commission, aims to co-create with stakeholders a comprehensive skills system to support the growing training demand in the field of IAM.

The new CoVE is configured as a strategic hub capable of:

  • map emerging professional needs;
  • design and test new training paths , including VET courses, university programs, continuing education and specialist paths;
  • offer career kits, free resources, networking opportunities , and international mobility;
  • consolidate a Community of Practice that fosters collaboration and the exchange of expertise.

Deep Blue’s contribution

Deep Blue brings to AIRMOB its experience in training, professional skills design, Human Factors and participatory processes , facilitating joint work between companies, training institutions and local stakeholders.

According to Aurora De Bortoli Vizioli , Senior Consultant and Project Manager at Deep Blue, “Drones Beyond represents the ideal context for bringing CoVE and the AIRMOB project to life. It’s a strategic opportunity to build an ecosystem of shared expertise, where innovation, training, and industry collaborate effectively to support the development of the aviation sector of the future.”

Drones Beyond: A Dynamic Environment for Aerospace Innovation

Drones Beyond is the flagship initiative of the Aerospace Technology District (DTA) and represents a national hub for the development of Innovative Aerial Services (IAS) and Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS). The event leverages the European and regional experiences developed in Puglia, promoting a coordinated approach to the transition to advanced aerial services.

Alongside its industrial dimension, Drones Beyond has a strong educational vocation: thanks to the Puglia Region’s Smart Specialization Strategy (S3) , it involves schools, universities, and citizens to spread STEM skills and support a qualified workforce for the future of the aerospace sector.

CoVE and AIRMOB: a long-term vision

In the long term, the CoVE and the Community of Practice aim to become central hubs for:

  • collaboration between institutions, industry and the local area ;
  • widespread access to specialized training courses ;
  • the creation of a national network of skills for innovative air mobility.

With AIRMOB, Italy takes a significant step in strengthening its ability to compete and innovate in the aerospace sector, building the skills needed to support the development of future air mobility.
